Born and still residing in Birmingham, 32 year old Pete is a self taught guitarist, lead vocalist and composer, song writer, band leader, teacher and session musician. Developed through the local jazz scene, Pete has played with the likes of Tom Hill, Sara Coleman, Chris Bowden, Bryan Corbett, Andy Colman, and the Fat Chops Big Band as a special guest. He is now trying to break through onto the national jazz scene with his own exciting and original jazz project.
Pete's style is influenced by the great Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, George Benson and more recently Pat Metheny and Tony Remy. His compositions always have a melodic and soulful sound, probably due to Pete's love of great soul acts such as Marvin Gaye, Gil Scott Heron, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder.
His acoustic duo MAP, launch their debut album "The View from Here" in London on March 18th. Pete has also written in the past for local alto jazz saxophonist Alvin Davis, with some success in America as well as Britain with the albums "Let It Blow" and "Let The Vibes Decide" (FM Jazz Records).
Pete has performed for many years at international jazz festivals such as the Cork Jazz Festival and with the help of Birmingham Jazz, supported Tony Remy at Ronnie Scott's Birmingham with his own original outfit. |
